Session Description:  I'll teach you how to make a coal with a bowdrill. This ancestral skill was use by people up north here to make fires for thousands of years. In Alberta our biology and environmental restrictions lead us to using mechanical advantage to getting friction hot enough to successfully start fires. My goal is to get everyone an ember and a fire before you walk away with your own bow drill kit. For fun bring a round of wood and we'll go over everyone's selection so we all know what to look for. I look forward to teaching you all. Kids 13 and under require a parent to partner up with. Bring your knife, because we're not on the Paleolithic era anymore!
