Animal Tracking Basics - March 16, 2024

Join us for a full day of Wild Animal Tracking at our magnificent Boreal Forest Adventure Center. 

9am to 4pm.

Learn how to identify, interpret, follow, and read animal tracks and sign to determine what animals are in your area. 

Dale and Colleen Kiselyk will be sharing decades of knowledge and experience in this interactive and informative weekend. 

Participants are responsible for their own food, drink, snowshoes, and warm clothing for the weekend. 

There is an outdoor firepit, heated bathroom, and ample parking available on site.  Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch to cook over the fire.  We will also be providing campfire Bannock(and jams and nut butters) for all participants.  

This workshop is suitable for professionals, nature enthusiasts, teachers, outdoor educators, and anyone interested in increasing fascinating knowledge of local animals.

Location:  Nature Alive Adventure Center(Lone Pine, AB) - 2 hours Northwest of Edmonton, near the Hamlet of Fort Assiniboine.  Directions and full details on the workshop will be sent out to participants prior to the date.

What to Bring:  

  • Warm Clothing for the day.  Bring extra clothing in your vehicle that you can grab if needed
  • Good winter footwear for walking in snow.  Insulated boots are best
  • Your own snowshoes if you like.  However, we don't have a lot of snow this year so they may not be necessary
  • Lunch and drinks.  You are welcome to use our campfire pit to warm up and cook on if you desire.
  • A notebook, pencil, and your camera.  A small ruler if you like for measuring tracks.
